How to Get back into the Study-Mindset

It can be challenging to get back into the swing of studying after a relaxing holiday break. However, with a positive mindset and determination, you can regain your focus and make progress towards your goals.

Your healthy habits may have lapsed, your sleeping schedule is probably not the finest anymore, and your drive to study isn’t the best right now.

Let’s dive right in and prepare you for the upcoming school year or semester!

Why can’t I find the motivation to dive back into studying?

Getting back into studying after a nice long break can be challenging, but it’s definitely doable! If you’re feeling demotivated, this article is definitely for you! Don’t worry, we can get your motivation back up.

Let’s begin with a Small Step

Instead of focussing on the big picture, let’s break it down into small steps. It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed, especially when you’re constantly thinking about the months to come without taking that first step. Remember to stay positive and focus on the present moment.

You’ve got this!

It is best to start small, such as going through your study supplies (books, notebooks, pencils, etc.) and noting what you already have and what you will need to acquire for the upcoming semester or school year. If you’re looking to add some fresh items to your collection, treat yourself to an enjoyable shopping day and invest in things that will bring you joy every time you lay eyes on them (Thanks for the inspiration Marie Kondo).

Using these techniques will significantly boost your motivation and dedication to studying.

Embrace the Power of Transforming Your Surroundings

For the best result and productivity, you need to keep your workspace clean and well-organised. Prior to beginning your study session, it’s important to tidy up your desk or study area. Additionally, this will assist you in maintaining your concentration and warding off those pesky cleaning impulses that have a way of disrupting your study time. Keep your head and heart concentrated on achieving your goals.

Set Clear Goals

Consider your goals and the time frame you have in mind. It is a good idea in my opinion to get started early in order to prevent excessive stress and time management problems. That is what I always do and it helps me so much.

Additionally, I believe that using a planner helps me to stay focused on my goals. It is also helpful for remembering deadlines and lectures. The satisfaction of crossing off exam dates with a green pen month after month is indescribable. It’s so satisfying to get closer and closer to the finish line. It always gives me the drive to keep going.

Keep a Positive Mindset when facing Challenges

I understand how simple it is to let anxiety and discouragement consume you, but it is absolutely essential to continue to work. Stop studying and go to bed when you feel like you can’t handle this anymore and are on the verge of giving up.

If you push through when you are mentally and physically worn out, nothing good will come out. Everything feels easier after a good night’s sleep.

Be proud of all you do on a daily basis, and don’t be disheartened if things get too hectic one or two days a week. You’re going to be okay, I promise.

Closing Thoughts

Put your faith in consistency rather than anxiety. Instead of taking long breaks and trying to cram a lot of work into a few days, it’s better for your well-being to make small progress every day.

Additionally, setting a timer will also help you stick to your plans and avoid putting things off or getting distracted by unimportant things.

You can do this! You’ve done it before!
