The Canadian singer Céline Marie Claudette Dion was born on 30 March 1968, in Charlemagne. She is the youngest of 14 children and grew up in a loving family where music was always playing.
When Céline was just 12 years old, she started working professionally with René Angélil.
At age 19, they started dating, but they didn’t let anyone know about their relationship for years.
Marriage
The couple announced they were getting married in 1993.
Her First Record
Angélil hired Dion soon after they met. To pay for her first record, “La voix du bon Dieu“, René took out a mortgage on his house.
Thank goodness it became a hit, as Céline was already known for her excellent vocal ability!
Family Planning
In order to grow her family, Dion had to undergo many IVF cycles.
She continued by saying that she will wait patiently for a second child.
Dion and Angélil had three children together: a son named René-Charles in 2001 and twin boys named Nelson and Eddy in 2010.
René’s Passing
René passed away on January 14, 2016, after receiving his second cancer diagnosis in 2014.
Céline was heartbroken, and she admitted that she had only kissed René in her entire life.
She stated that she has not dated or considered a new romance since then. Rene will always be the only man in her life, even after his death.
But how was Céline able to discover her true love at such a young age and stay with one person for the rest of her life, knowing that he is the one and that no one else can offer her what he can?
Céline’s beliefs on discovering true love and gaining certainty
Trust and respect for each other
René had Céline’s full trust. He was always there for her and believed in her skills just as much as she did in his. René would always be there to pick her up, she knew that. This was a clear sign to her that he was her true love.
René loved her always, taught her a lot, and held her when no one else would. Her mental health depended on this since she was constantly in the public spotlight and people intensely scrutinised everything she said and did.
Eternal devotion
René and Céline had a significant age difference – 26 years, to be exact. However, they had a very close relationship that was unwavering and never failed. They married in 1994 and worked on their marriage, love, and affection until his untimely death. Céline still has no desire for anyone else.
It is evident that both of them had to put up with cruel, vicious remarks and accusations and this surely did not make matters any easier. Marriage is already a demanding union. Nevertheless, they continued committing to one another, made progress, and never gave up on their love.
Building a Life Together
As he was her manager, they worked together to advance their careers. Both careers skyrocketed as they continually supported one another, lifting each other higher and higher.
They got engaged, married, and welcomed three beautiful baby children into the world. They did everything better together, so they continued to prioritise each other above all else.
Steadfast and unwavering support
René would always be there for Céline behind the scenes at her concert, cheering and loving her. When she turned around to look behind her, she knew that he would be there, smiling at her and encouraging her to keep going. When everything else became too loud, he was always there to give a warm, big hug and a kiss.
By the time Céline was a teenager, she had already realised that this man would be there for her no matter what happened to her career, whether she was involved in an accident that rendered her unable to sing, walk, or talk, or whether she lost her beauty. René will be there in support, loving her, holding her, and cheering. Always and forever!
Life imposes for you to be sick and you have the option to be strong or not be strong. But to be surrounded by the right people helps a lot, because if you know you will die, make the best of it. I proved to René that he was there for me and I’m going to be there for him — and I’m still there for him.
